CB Jutogh: Technologically Advanced Self-Sufficiency in Water Supply

Technologically Advanced Self-Sufficiency in Water Supply
Over the past three years, we have launched and successfully implemented two state-of-the-art water rejuvenation and lift water supply schemes in Jutogh Cantt.. These water lifting schemes are the first of their kind in Himachal Pradesh, marked by full automation and remote management capabilities. This has not only increased our per capita water supply from 62.5 liters to 135 liters per day but also facilitated significant annual cost savings of approximately 10-15 lakhs by discontinuing the bulk water supply from MES, Jutogh. Our schemes feature complete automation, allowing for operational control via a mobile app. This advanced system reduces manpower requirements and provides real-time surveillance through CCTV, which is also accessible via the app. The system sends automatic alerts for any unusual movements, ensuring security and efficient management of the water supply. Furthermore, the water distributed is filtered through a sophisticated setup including sand filters among others, ensuring safe and drinkable water for the community.
Impact Assessment:
- Technological Impact: The automation of the water supply schemes has reduced the need for manual operation, making the system efficient and cost-effective. The integration of CCTV surveillance ensures security and continuous monitoring without the constant presence of personnel.
- Community Impact: The community now enjoys a reliable supply of clean, filtered water. The ease of access to system controls through mobile apps has enhanced user satisfaction and engagement.
- Environmental Impact: Spring-shed management techniques have been integrated to sustainably manage and replenish our water sources, aligning with environmental conservation efforts.
- Policy Alignment: Following the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Har Ghar Jal’, we have equipped the system with metered water connections to ensure fair distribution and usage tracking, promoting accountability in water consumption.
